Nv Shu

Nv shu, also known as the Women's script, is a kind of lettering system derived from Chinese characters that was used exclusively among women during Ming and Qing dynasty in China. Nv shu is a script that was created in the patriarchal society. Women of that time would use this script to express their private emotions, such as dissatisfaction with their marriage and family misfortunes.

Although Nv shu is now brought into the society and more people are beginning to learn it, I still feel sorrow for the women who were left in the past. So I intend to write and illustrate a metaphorical story to tell how this script was developed and then how it was interfered with by the official culture, and to remember those women who were left in the "women society".
